Asking the questions

The History of Day Centres project collected over 70 interviews, including interviews with people who used Croydon Day Services, their family members and staff that worked there. People with learning disabilities have been on both sides of the microphone.

Listen to Dorian Jones-Davies and Lorraine Murphy interviewing John Spedding, who has work with people with learning disabilities in both Croydon and Surrey Social Services since 1967. John began as a ‘Trainee Instructor’ and ultimately worked as a manager; one of his roles was to lead on the Best Value Review which underpinned the very changes to Day Services which is the focus of the History of Day Centres project.

Olwen Ryan interviews Paul McDonald
