The project involved the analysis and integration of three types of data:
The project has created a new data set to parallel and fill gaps in the Jefferys archive. 63 interviews with retired and serving South Asian geriatricians and including two UK born doctors working in the UK national health service have been completed and will be available for consultation at the British Library Sound Archive . These have been fully transcribed from recorded speech and digitalized and are accompanied by audio files of the interviews.
Copies of the interviews in transcript and audio form have also been accepted for deposit at the UK Data Archive, University of Essex.
Secondary analysis of the Jefferys collection of 72 oral history interviews carried out by the late Professor Margot Jefferys for her study of the pioneers of geriatric medicine in the UK. Full transcripts of her interviews are deposited at the British Library Sound Archive.
Analysis of documentary data drawn from a range of national archives including the British Geriatrics Society, the National Archives, the Royal College of Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies.
