Have your say: Discussion group

We have recently launched an online password protected discussion group which will enable participants and other interested people to discuss issues raised by the research and to give feedback on our publications and conference presentations. The discussion group is open to all.

The forum can be found at http://www.open.ac.uk/forums/hsc-sag/index.php

Professor Arup Banerjee

Professor Arup Banerjee OBE has kindly agreed to launch the discussion group and has given us the following message:

'As a member of the project Advisory Group I'm initiating an online discussion area for participants who may want to add their own comments and also requesting help with one particular task. I'll outline what I've got in mind.

First, the project leaders would be delighted to hear from you regarding any particular views you have on working in the NHS in this year of the 60th anniversary. Anything you want to add to what you've already told us, any personal experiences, views or comments on the future of the NHS they would be interested to hear.

Second, the project would be grateful if you could help out with filling in the Geriatricians and Geriatrics Timeline 1930s-. For example, they would be interested to hear about when you first had experience of age-related admissions, or when particular drugs or interventions became available. For example, they've included 1962 as the earliest hip replacement surgery, but do we agree that this is right? And are there other medical and treatment changes we might see as making a significant difference?

Thirdly the project would like your help in compiling an online gallery of images of South Asian Geriatricians in and out of the workplace. If you have any photographs that they could use please could you upload them onto the gallery in the forum.

The project would be interested to hear from you so please do take the trouble to log on to this password protected area and contribute your views and experience.'
