Members of IET work within a programme structure which is divided into three main portfolios, Research & Innovation, Quality Enhancement and Academic Professional Development. IET’s programme structure is flexible to be responsive to changing priorities. Staff work collaboratively with each other on a variety of projects and activities simultaneously across multiple programmes.
Research & Innovation

Quality Enhancement
The Quality Enhancement Portfolio delivers the evidence base, analytics and pedagogic design expertise required for the Open University’s quality enhancement process and strategic oversight of the student learning experience. Academics and Academic-related staff working within IET’s three portfolio strands are involved in cross-institutional strategic programmes of work, such as the Student Services Review, OpenLearn and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
