Who we are

The Institute of Educational Technology (IET) works collaboratively with leading scholars in the UK and internationally, and promotes continued professional educational development for Higher Education practitioners.

The Institute of Educational Technology

  • is a centre of expertise in educational technology, promoting and embedding good practice and driving professional development of staff
  • is at the heart of the OU, directly influencing University strategy by providing strategic advice and support
  • conducts fundamental high impact internationally renowned research in teaching and e-learning and applied research in educational technologies;
  • examines, analyses, evaluates and influences OU teaching and learning practice;
  • demonstrates excellence in teaching, as shown by the number of IET colleagues who have received OU teaching awards;
  • is outward looking and responsive to our clients: Central Academic Units and the Vice Chancellor’s Executive
