Part of IET’s learning & teaching remit is to improve curriculum and pedagogical effectiveness, and this includes providing educational and professional development activities for staff members in ways that are engaging and effective. We keep a watchful eye on university priorities as well as emerging requirements across the HE sector and ensure these are reflected in our development provision.
Collaboration across units has resulted in the highly successful and award winning ‘Learn About’ Guides, ‘Learn About’ Fairs, and the printed ‘Learning & Teaching Guides’. The new ‘Innovating Pedagogy’ report series explores new forms of teaching, learning and assessment. Our Technology Coffee Mornings are regular informal gatherings offering opportunities to present and discuss projects and evaluations that are advancing technology-supported learning at the OU and externally. We continue to provide leadership in the OU’s e-Learning Community, organizing a rich programme of debates and presentations. The Quality Enhancement seminar series is another opportunity to exchange experiences across the university and share good practices. We also work with faculties and other units to deliver a variety of workshops, with a strong current focus on Learning Design.
IET staff members have been closely involved in the development of Cloudworks which is an online environment to find, share and discuss learning and teaching ideas and to access resources and discussions related to events.
