Abstract
The world of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) has dramatically changed during the last two decades. The sector has become highly professionalised in fundraising, branding and marketing, as well as in communications with supporters.

Building on research in her recent book, International NGO Engagement, Advocacy, Activism: The Faces and Spaces of Change, Professor Helen Yanacopulos will analyse the engagement of NGOs within the contemporary international development landscape, arguing that they must utilise the new political spaces of digital environments more strategically if they are to overcome compassion fatigue and become better agents of change.
