TESS-India: Changing Pedagogy in Indian Classrooms

Thu, 10 December 2015, 12:00 to 14:00

The Hub, Medlar and Juniper Suites, OU, Milton Keynes

Join the OU to celebrate and share the achievements of TESS-India so far, over an Indian-themed lunch and an opening by Professor Myles Wickstead. For catering purposes, please RSVP to Hannah Leicester.

The event will include presentations and discussions to showcase the pedagogic principles of TESS-India (Teacher Education through School-based Support in India), a large-scale collaboration between the OU and the government of India to develop Open Educational Resources (OER) for teachers, school leaders and teacher educators in seven Indian states.

The TESS-India team has produced over 150 OER in multiple languages and formats that enable teachers to try out and develop student-centred active classroom learning approaches. There is also a TESS-India MOOC for teacher educators.

The event will focus on:

  • Pedagogy: The power and value of OER for contextually appropriate teacher education at scale
  • Innovation: The role of technologies in TESS-India
  • Quality: The collaborative model for writing and localising OER
  • Sustainability: Multiple platforms, partnerships and stakeholders.
