The Lisbon Agenda set out a new industrial policy for an enlarged European Union that aims to enhance long-term economic performance and improve the ability of European firms to generate innovation and growth. The Capabilities Measurement Project

The project seeks to operationalise Sen's capabilities approach to welfare economics, initially by developing datasets that provide indicators of capabilities across a wide range of life domains. Building on collaborative work concerning freedom and decision-making between Dr Anand and Dr van Hees, the project has examined and developed a variety of ways in which capabilities can be measured consistent with both theory and methodological conventions used in household surveys. Non-governmental Action to Improve the Access of the Poor to Good Quality Low Cost Drugs

This research aims to analyse the scope for non-governmental action to improve access by low income people to quality-assured low cost medicines. It concentrates on problems of access by the poor in India and in Tanzania to reliable drugs from Indian pharmaceutical companies. Project details

Carbon Saving through Commercialisation of Domestic Micro-Generation Technologies

The purpose of this project is to get a consumer and user perspective on the adoption and non-adoption of low and zero carbon heat technologies. The study has conducted preliminary technical and user evaluations of solar water heating, heat pumps and biomass stoves and boilers. Project details
