Scholarship is at the heart of the The Open University’s reputation and day-to-day life. Our professorial staff are expected to demonstrate leadership in their fields and encourage and direct the community around them. Our inaugural lecture programme is a platform for our professorial staff to contribute to the academic life of the University through the medium of a public lecture.
Each year the Vice-Chancellor, invites newly appointed and promoted professors to give an inaugural lecture.
The programme of lectures is published to allow our friends and guests to attend as well as members of our own academic community. Each lecture is followed by a reception. If you would like to attend a lecture please see contact details.
All lectures are video recorded. Recordings will be available for viewing via the internet approximately one week post the event. Please see individual lecture details for the viewing link.
Please note that recordings of all of the inaugural lectures can be accessed via the following site: http://stadium.open.ac.uk/berrill/
