On offer of a place, disabled applicants to London Metropolitan University are sent a letter giving information about the services and facilities available at the University, plus contact information for the Disability and Dyslexia Service. They also receive a questionnaire (PDF, 59kb) asking for more information about the needs arising from their disability.
Disability officers then conduct a needs assessment for each disabled applicant, either before their course starts (for those with complex needs), shortly after enrolment, or as required during the time of their study.
Internal needs assessment reports (INAR) (PDF, 29kb) are copied to the student’s department and to the course tutor for each semester.
The Disability and Dyslexia Service provides staff development on this process and on what to do when an INAR has been received by a tutor.
