First of all when I came here, we talked about the potential problems I'd have over the first year, and I told them how I learned at college, what kind of support I received, and also the style of my learning. We had a deaf awareness course from the Royal National Institute for the Deaf, a teacher of the deaf, teaching all the lecturers and professors in the department. They were really interested in helping me out, really supportive. And they even gave me a half an hour extra, personal tutorial, the lecturers, so I went through everything with them clearly. They were very aware of my problems, aware of my English language, of my style of writing, so different from other hearing people. So they were very supportive, in everything. Even in lectures, they spoke slowly for the interpreter and they made sure that the notetakers understood everything that they said. Brilliant.
