Broadly speaking there are two - the social model and the medical model. And here we very strongly promote the social model of disability. Which is that a person is disabled by either other people's attitudes to them, or by the way in which the environment is structured or built. It's not the actual, quote “diagnosis” or medical condition, that disables a person, it is other people's attitudes, or the way the environment is structured.
