I suppose my role and my colleagues in student services spend a lot of time really, trying to reassure academic staff that if they build into the planning of, for example, their courses, their course materials - the preparation of their course materials - issues around accessibility, then they become automatic. They no longer become an issue. They no longer become problematic. But they have to build that in at the planning stage. If they produce a whole series of handouts and hand them out and then find that they're not accessible, that's too late. They need to do it beforehand. And if they are thinking about those issues at the early stages of preparation, then a lot of problems can be anticipated and prevented.
