The Research Support Team

The Research Support Team provides advice, guidance, and support throughout the research and scholarship process. We can help with:

• Open access publishing options
• Supporting Research Data Management (RDM), including reviewing Data Management Plans
• Disseminating and preserving publications and data
• Using Open Research Online (ORO) and Open Research Data Online (ORDO)
• Increasing the visibility of your research and scholarship
• Understanding and complying with funder requirements e.g. the REF for open access and policies for data sharing
• Understanding bibliometrics and assessing research performance

 

Nicola Dowson - Nicola is Senior Library Services Manager for Research Support. Her role involves working in partnership across the University to develop products and services that support the University’s research activity.

Chris Biggs - Chris looks after Open Research Online (ORO) on a day-to-day basis. He has worked in this role since 2011 and can advise on using ORO to maximise dissemination of research outputs and Open Access publishing generally.

Maxine Borton - Maxine works across the team and supports open access and research data management (RDM).

Isabel Chadwick - Isabel 's focus is on research data management (RDM) and managing ORDO. She can help with all aspects of RDM and will happily review your Data Management Plan!

Yvette Howley - Yvette works closely with research students to understand their research support needs and to support training and engagement, and administers the UKRI Block Grant.

Gwen Kent - Gwen works across the team and supports open access for both journal articles and books.

Rosemary Lane - Rosemary's role as a Library Assistant involves checking and adding records to ORO. She also helps to share Research Support news and showcase resources on social media.

Ann McAloon - Ann’s role as a Library Assistant involves checking and adding records to ORO.

Abi Monaghan - Abi’s role as a Library Assistant involves checking and adding records to ORO. Abi also does the administration of the research support teams training programme. 

Carol Rhodes - Carol's role as a Library Assistant involves checking and adding records to ORO.

Alan Stiles - Alan has been the developer for our institutional repository, ORO since 2012. Alan makes sure it works perfectly on a day-to-day basis and continually looks for ways to make it even better!
