Access eresources using Scirus

Scirus, the scientific-information internet search engine focuses only on Web pages and sites containing scientific content, such as preprint servers, digital archives, repositories and patent and journal databases.

You can set it up to enable seamless access to online journal articles subscribed to by the Open University Library by doing the following:

  1. Click on the “Search Preferences” link on the Scirus home page
  2. Click “Enable” under the “Library Partner Links” section
  3. Select “The Open University” from the drop-down list under “T”
  4. Click Save preferences

When you conduct your search, you will see an SFX icon in the search results for journal articles and other scholarly literature. Follow this link, to check if the full text is available in the OU Library. Most journal articles are not available for free online, so if you have not already done so you will be asked to log in with your Open University Computer Username and Password.

If you experience problems getting the full text of an article via the SFX link, you can search for journals using the Journal page on the OU Library web site to see if full-text access is available.
