The library offers a programme of sessions on a wide range of subjects including an introduction to the online library, an interactive session on referencing and plagiarism, and more in-depth sessions on how to carry out literature searches or use reference management software. All are listed on the online training sessions web page on the library website.
To take part in a session you do not need to download any special software. However you do need to ensure that you are using the correct version of Java. There is more guidance on the Computing Guide.
You will need to have speakers or a headset set up so that you can listen to the trainer. If you have a microphone you can use this to interact with the trainer. Alternatively you can use the online text chat to type messages. The Elluminate interface will be explained to you at the beginning of each session.
To join a session go to the Library Online Training website and select the session title from the study planner. Then click on the link with a light bulb next to it. Please allow enough time to log on and do an audio check.
There are also recordings available of all of the live training sessions through the Library Online Training website.
