If you or your students would like advice about where to find library resources or how to use them have a look at Finding resources for your assignment. More advanced search advice is provided in Finding information on your research topic.

  • The selected resources for your study pages on the library website are a good place to start looking for information on a subject.
  • Find out how to borrow, renew and return print and other items from the OU Library at Walton Hall.
  • If you are involved in module production “Supporting Learning and Teaching” section of our Library Services intranet site should be your first port of call.

Find out more about the services and resources available to you on the Services for staff page.

Library Helpdesk staff are available seven days a week to support you with any enquiry and can be contacted by phone, email or webchat.

Document delivery

The Document Delivery Service can provide you with items not held in The Open University Library collections. Document delivery is also known as Inter-Library Loans (ILL).

Meeting rooms

Meeting rooms in the Library can be booked by OU staff using the Estates resource scheduler on the intranet. Most rooms have large screens, ceiling mounted data projectors and whiteboards.

Digilab

The Digilab is furnished in a colourful and energising way, to facilitate meeting in an informal environment. You can write on the glass boards positioned around the room, which is great for planning and mind-mapping. The room comes equipped with a projector, PC and 55" touchscreen connected to a Mac Mini. This can be used to run an iPhone or iPad simulator for demonstrating OU apps. There are also two iMacs and an additional PC which can be used on the OU staff network.
