What is my Library Barcode?

A library barcode is issued when you register with the library and can be found on your Open University Library card or the back of your Open University security pass card. You will need it to request items or manage your loans via the online library catalogue.

This access to our physical resources is only useful if you live within a reasonable travelling distance of the library at our Milton Keynes campus. However, there is a large selection of online resources which all Open University students and staff are entitled to use, accessible via the Open University Library website. You do not need a library barcode to access these resources,  access is via your Open University Username (OUCU) and Password. Open University students who live at a distance from Milton Keynes may be interested in joining the SCONUL Access Scheme, which allows access to participating academic libraries in your locality.

Non OU undergraduate and postgraduate students living locally may join the Library as External Students with borrowing rights. More information can be found on How do I borrow, renew and return items?
