Open Research Online (ORO) is the Open University's repository of research publications and other research outputs. It is an Open Access resource that can be searched and browsed freely by members of the public. For more information go to the ORO web page and also check the FAQ link from that page.
Some advantages of ORO are that it widens access to OU research as people can easily access it from the internet. This leads to more cited research from OU research work. It is a managed, stored and backed up database and meets research funding bodies criteria advocating the use of institutional repositories to improve access to research. It will raise the profile of Open University research and provides accessible data for the RAE and the Research Excellence Framework.
All Open University researchers are encouraged to deposit all peer reviewed research papers and other research outputs once they are published. Items include: authored books, edited books, book chapters, journal articles (including online journal articles), conference papers (published in the proceedings of a conference/symposium or workshop), published patents, and other peer-reviewed outputs (research reports, web publications, scholarly editions).
Where copyright allows this record is accompanied by an Open Access PDF of the full text. If an appropriate PDF is not available the reference details can be deposited and a link to the online location of the research paper will be included.
