A Group Code prompt box appears when trying to access Refworks or Refworks 'Write-N-Cite' from a particular route. If you use the following steps you will be able to access Refworks and Refworks 'Write-N-Cite' using your Open University Computer Username and password:
Access Refworks from the Open University Library website.
Access Write 'N' Cite by downloading 'Write-N-Cite' from Refworks.
The installation programme will place a 'Write-N-Cite' shortcut on the computer desktop.
From a workplace or home:
1. Double-click on the Write-N-Cite shortcut.
2. A Write-N-Cite page will open, do make sure the 'Remote Access' tab is selected. The page will display the message 'To Access your institution's RefWorks subscription remotely, Enter the Group Code here.' Choose the 'Athens Users' link (displayed below the 'Go To Login' text box).
3. A page headed 'RefWorks Athens Authentication Point' will now appear. Choose 'Alternative login' link (displayed below the 'Username' and 'Password' text boxes).
4. At the 'find your organisation: organisations who use Athens Management' page, type open into the 'Search:' text box and choose 'Go'.
5. At the following 'find your organisation' page, choose 'Open University'.
6. At the 'login' page, click on the button marked 'Go' (displayed below 'Go to the Open University login page'). Make sure the 'Remember this organisation on this computer' check box is ticked.
7. At the 'Sign in to the OU website' page, type your Open University Computer Username and password into the appropriate text boxes and choose 'Sign in'.
8. A 'Choose Your Athens Resource' may now appear, choose 'General access to athens resources'.
9. A Write-N-Cite page headed 'All References' will now appear.
