Where can I get help with Refworks Write 'n' Cite?

Write-N-Cite is an optional piece of software available to download from RefWorks (choose ‘Tools’ and select the most appropriate version for your computer and operating system). Use Write-N-Cite to add citations and references to a Word document. (The ‘One line/Cite View’ option within RefWorks will also let you do this. Choose ‘One line/Cite View’ from the RefWorks ‘Change View’ menu.)

We have received some reports of problems using Write-N-Cite with Word 2007. It is also possible that other software installed on your computer may prevent Write-N-Cite from downloading or running correctly.

Write-N-Cite will install a shortcut on your computer desktop. You will be prompted for a ‘Group Code’ to access Write-N-Cite. Follow the steps below to login:

1. Double click on the Write-N-Cite shortcut.
2. A ‘Write-N-Cite’ window will open showing the message 'To Access your institution's RefWorks subscription remotely, Enter the Group Code here. Choose the ‘Athens users’ link.
3. At the ‘Athens Authentication Point’ choose the ‘Alternative login’ link.
4. At ‘Find your organisation’ type open into the ‘Quick search’ box and click on ‘Go’.
5. At ‘Athens login’ choose ‘Open University’.
6. Select ‘Go to the Open University login page’.
7. At ‘Sign in to the OU website’ login using your Open University computer username and password.
8. If a ‘Choose Your Athens Resource’ page now appears, select ‘General access to Athens resources’.
9. Write-N-Cite will open showing ‘All References’.

If you experience any problems with Write-N-Cite please contact the Library Helpdesk. Alternatively, use the RefWorks ‘One line/Cite View’ option to add citations and references to a Word document.
