Rosie Jones, Director Library Services
In the role as Director I am responsible for setting the strategic vision for the Library ensuring that we deliver a leading-edge service at the Open University by responding positively to new opportunities and challenges within a rapidly changing environment.
I have worked in academic libraries since 2001. Prior to this post I was the Associate Director at Liverpool John Moores University where I provided strategic leadership on behalf of Library Services to develop, direct and oversee the implementation of Library Strategy. Previous experience includes project managing the development and implementation of the award winning Alan Gilbert Learning Commons at the University of Manchester Library as well as holding specialist information literacy roles at Manchester Metropolitan University.
I am particularly involved in the UK academic library Information Literacy community and I currently co-chair the Librarians’ Information Literacy Annual Conference (LILAC). I am also an active member of the Association for Learning Technology special interest group on Games and Learning.
What the OU Library means to me
I am extremely proud and excited to be working for a library at the leading edge of delivering services to distance students. The OU Library Service is full of talented and enthusiastic staff who are committed to delivering the best service possible and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to help them achieve this.
