Nicky Whitsed, Director of Library Services
Nicky has led the development of Library Services to the Open University's 250,000 students.
Under Nicky's leadership the Library Service has developed a new vision for supporting distance learners in the age of digital scholarship and social media including the delivering of services to mobile devices.
Nicky's current remit includes University Archives and University Records Management as well as support to Learning and Teaching, Research and the University's e-business.
Before joining the Open University, Nicky was Information Manager at SmithKlineBeecham where she was involved in a major culture change programme. Previously Nicky was Librarian of Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School (University of London) where she pioneered the introduction of end-user databases for clinicians and students.
Nicky has an MSc in Information Systems and Technology and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP)
