RSS feeds

RSS imageWhat are RSS feeds?

RSS stands for Rich Site Summary, or Really Simple Syndication.

RSS feeds are a way that websites alert readers each time new content is added and then distribute that content so that it is displayed in one easy to control place.

RSS enables the latest information, headlines and updates to be delivered directly to you without you having to visit each site; helping you to keep up to date.

How can I use RSS?

You need a piece of software called a news reader. It checks RSS feeds and lets you read any new articles. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, others are downloadable applications. Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer.

Once you have chosen a news reader, then you decide what content you want to receive in your news reader, by finding and subscribing to the relevant RSS feeds.
