New Library Search is now live!

At the end of April, after successful beta testing, the new Library Search went live. The new search tool has replaced the One stop search, journals and ebooks search boxes that were on the Library website home page. However One Stop Search will remain available until July 2015 for those that are used to using it and want a little more time before moving to the new search tool.

The new Library Search will improve your experience of finding library articles, journals, databases and books and is much easier to use. It includes a handy ‘My Bookshelf’ option so you can save your searches and search results to use or look at again later. Library Search has been designed with students, for students throughout the development process. Members of the Library Services student panel were instrumental in helping establish the initial system needs and specifications through to testing prototypes and beta versions of the new tool.

Students testing the search particularly liked the My Bookshelf feature, saying it would be a ‘brilliant’ addition. If you’d like use the new Library Search, you can get to it via the Library Services website home page or you can access the search box directly.

If you have created your own login for One Stop search and have saved resources you will still be able to access these through EBSCOHost at https://www.open.ac.uk/libraryservices/resource/database:447098&f=126. Links to Library Search have also been added into your module website now.

We hope the new Library Search improves your experience of using the OU Library and if you have any feedback, we would welcome your comments.
