New look and feel for Library Search

Library Search will be updated to a new look and feel in late July/early August 2018.
The way you use Library Search will remain the same but the appearance and location of some elements on the search pages will be a little different.  We are working with the Library Services Student Panel to make sure these changes continue to improve ease of use.

Benefits include:

  • Library Search appears less cluttered
  • Journal holding coverage dates will be easier to find when journals are from a single provider
  • The order of items on ‘My Bookshelf’ (called ‘Favourites’ in the new version of Library Search) can be sorted by title, author or date added, something we know you have been asking for
  • Databases that were previously difficult to find will appear at the top of search results when particular search terms are used, e.g. when you search using abbreviated versions of database names. Try searching for ‘ECCO’ (short for Eighteenth Century Collections Online) to see this in action

A preview link to the new look search is available from the current Library Search. Updates will be made to the preview version using student feedback.
A link to the current version of Library Search will remain available after the switch to the new version for students who are nearing completion of a module or project at that time.
