Students on your course also viewed…

Library Services is currently investigating whether receiving recommendations about eresources enhances your search experience. To do this we have built a temporary prototype recommender system called MyRecommendations, which works with the ‘One-Stop Search’ tool.

The three different kinds of recommendations provided will be:

  • ‘People on your course(s) viewed’
  • ‘These resources may be related to others you viewed recently’
  • ‘People using similar search terms often viewed’

MyRecommendations will mature with every action carried out by its users. This means that the system will improve as more people visit recommended resources, and then rate them when prompted.

If you’d like to explore the new tool and give us your feedback about the recommendations, go to www.open.ac.uk/library/rise.

There is a feedback link on the site which will take you to a brief survey (using a different website). Your comments and suggestions will greatly help our understanding of the role of recommendation tools within library services.

Thank you to those that have already submitted some feedback. The problem some people experienced accessing links from MyRecommendations has now been fixed.

For more information about the project and how the recommendations work, visit the FAQs on the site.
