This week is Explore Your Archive Week!

This week is Explore Your Archive Week! So we’ve picked some of our favourite things from the OU Archive to share with you.

Did you know that Betty Boothroyd was Chancellor of The Open University from 1995 until 2006, and became the first female Speaker of the House of Commons in 1992. An online exhibition on the OU Digital Archive uses archive footage, audio clips and images to explore Betty Boothroyd’s career and her time as OU Chancellor.

[[[image-0 medium right]]] As well as celebrating important figures in the OU’s history, there are over 250 historical images in the Digital Archive – from graduation ceremonies to images of the Walton Hall campus being built in the early 1970s, as well as early summer school photos and pictures of famous and important guests!

The digital archive also hosts some of our specially created teaching materials, and some specially created content. The online exhibition ‘Shakespeare at the OU’ was created to show the OU’s teaching of Shakespeare from the early 70s onward and uses clips from various films and productions of Shakespeare plays.
