Open Access Week 24 - 30 October: getting to grips with Open Access publishing

[[[image-0 medium right]]]Open Access publishing can increase the readership of your research - including researchers and students who may not have access to an institutional subscription and the general reader.  To mark Global Access week, Library Services is offering the following on-campus session:

Getting to grips with Open Access publishing, Wednesday 26 October, 10-11am, Library Presentation Room

Chris Biggs, Research Support Librarian, will explore the benefits of Open Access publishing, the different Open Access Policies researchers now operate under and the two different routes to Open Access publishing:

• Green Open Access is where a pre-publication version of the article is posted to a repository where it can be freely downloaded by the reader
• Gold Open Access is where the final published version is made freely available on the publishers website

Open Research Data & Open Research Data Online (ORDO)
Wendy Mears (Research Support Librarian) will be introducing the new research data store that enables you to publish completed research data and get a permanent, citable DOI for your work.

Claiming your research publications: ORCIDs at the OU
Chris Biggs (Research Support Librarian) will give an introduction to Open Researcher & Contributor IDs (ORCIDs). We will explore why they are a good idea and the time saving benefits for researchers.
