Structures made of the material are still standing in marine environments over 2000 years after they were built – and unlike modern concrete this material actually gets stronger over time.
In a paper published this week in the journal ‘American Mineralogist’, scientists have finally cracked the reason why these ancient structures are still stronger than ever.
