Do you suffer from Paraskevidekatriaphobia?

Triskaidekaphobia – the fear of the number 13 – stems from the belief that the number 13 is evil – following the “good” number 12 which is associated with 12 months of the year, 12 signs of the Zodiac etc.

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is an extension of this phobia – and is the fear of Friday the 13th - today!

[[[image-0 medium right]]] This particular fear dates back thousands of years to Roman times and beyond – and is linked to Christianity (the Great Flood supposedly occurred on a Friday, as did the crucifixion of Jesus) and events throughout the middle ages.

Sufferers of this phobia display extreme anxiety as the day approaches, and often refuse to leave their homes on the day itself as they are convinced that by doing so they invite catastrophe.
