Picking the best information for your assignment

How do I attend?

Go to Picking the best information for your assignment and select 'Join Room'. The room remains closed until the trainer has entered - this will usually be 15 minutes before the start time.

Evaluating the reliability and suitability of information is an integral part of writing in Higher Education, as well as of everyday life outside the University. In this 30 minute interactive session we will explore how to evaluate information using a framework and why it is important to look critically at information sources we may find on the web.

Who's it for?

This session is suitable for anyone with an interest in developing evaluation techniques for critically looking at information.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this session you should:

  • Know why we need to evaluate available information
  • Know whether Wikipedia is a good source of information
  • Know how to evaluate available information using a framework

Handouts and slides
