Folders from one of my MyReferences accounts are appearing in my newly created account.

If you have more than one OUCU (e.g. you are a tutor and also a student, or you are a member of staff and also a student, or a member of staff and a tutor, or all three) and the same email address is associated with more than one of your OUCUs (and you have a RefWorks account with more than one of your OUCUs) then you will find that you can see the same folder(s) when you are logged in under each OUCU that shares the same email address.

This is because MyReferences uses your email address to search for your RefWorks account. MyReferences is powered by the RefWorks software, RefWorks is an online bibliographic management software package.

If you have one email address associated with more than one OUCU then you will only have one RefWorks account.

If you would like to have a separate MyReferences/RefWorks account for each of your OUCUs then you will need to go to RefWorks and create a new account:

1. Go to RefWorks, and create a new account using the OUCU that you want the new account for and using a different email address to the one that is associated with your other OUCU(s).

2. You will also need to up-date the email address associated with the OUCU that you have just created a RefWorks account for. Go to StudentHome: Profile and change your email address so that it is the same as the email address that you have just put into RefWorks.

3. Return to MyReferences. Note that you may need to refresh your page (press F5).

You should now be logged in and able to create references and folders etc. You should not see any folders that are contained in your other MyReferences/RefWorks accounts.
