Director of the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University

Since joining the University in 1975, she has evaluated course materials, tuition and learner support systems, and authored courses in Third World Studies, Adult Learning and Open and Distance Learning.

As Director of the Institute, leads a centre of international excellence for the teaching , research, evaluation and development of educational technology in the service of student learning.

Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association

Member of ILT

Member of Editorial Board of Active Learning in Higher Education.

Interests in Life Long Learning
Welcomes the much higher profile it has brought to adult education

Publications include 'Evaluating Open and Distance Learning', Culture and Processes of Adult Learning (both 1993). Recent articles in Lifelong Learning in Europe (1999) and in Adults Learning (2000) address issues of new technologies and adult learners.
