Dr Heather Richardson is a novelist, short story writer, poet and essayist. She has written two historical novels, Madgeburg and Doubting Thomas, as well as numerous short stories and poems that have appeared in journals and anthologies in Ireland, the UK and Australia. She is currently completing a creative nonfiction project called A dress for Kathleen, combining text and textiles.

Dr Siobhán Campbell has published widely in the UK, Ireland and the USA. Author of six books of poetry and co-editor of Eavan Boland: Inside History, Siobhan’s work has received awards in the National Poetry Competition and the Troubadour International Competition and is the recipient of an Arts Council award and the Templar Poetry Prize.

Ideal for those new to creative writing, this course is not genre-specific and will focus on developing the creative impulse. Nessa O’Mahony has had critical acclaim for her four books of poetry and for her crime fiction novel, The Branchman (2018). She produces the regular literary podcast The Attic Sessions with her husband Peter Salisbury.

A million people in the UK are expected to be living with dementia by 2025. Whilst there is no cure, there is growing evidence that music can help improve symptoms such as depression and agitation, as well as bringing some much-needed moments of joy to those affected, and their families.

Following on from the greatly acclaimed OU co-production with the BBC, Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure, we are delighted to bring you an exclusive talk with the academics who worked behind the scenes.
