What do the experiences of Loyalist and Republican former political prisoners and Open University tutors reveal about the power of education during the conflict in and about Northern Ireland? What lessons can be drawn for divided societies today? A screening of our film 'Time to Think' will kickstart a panel and public discussion on the transformative potential of education in conflict contexts. This event draws on a unique Open University Oral History Archive documenting the educational life journeys of former political prisoners, OU and prison staff in British and Irish Prisons from 1972-2000.
This event will be delivered by Dr. Philip O'Sullivan, Lead Staff Tutor for the Faculty of Arts and Social Science and Gabi Kent, Knowledge Exchange Lecturer at The Open University.
Suitable for ages 16+
Delivered as part of The Imagine Festival of Politics and Ideas: https://imaginebelfast.com/
