A presentation on the European Union-funded Religious Toleration and Peace (RETOPEA) project will explain its central ambition to draw understanding from history in thinking about contemporary issues of managing religious diversity, and present examples of some of the ideas and material generated by the research so far. Members of the audience will then be filmed giving their short answers to a question such as ‘What can we learn from history about religious toleration?’ The responses will then be shown on screen to the audience, as a starting point for further discussion of the Irish experience in the wider European context of the RETOPEA project.
