Co-operation with employers and meeting their skills and innovation needs in Northern Ireland is a key priority for The Open University. In order to achieve this, we partner with a number of local employer representative groups.
We work closely with CBI NI to gain insight into the skills and training challenges that employers in Northern Ireland are facing and to support them in lobbying the Northern Ireland Executive to invest more extensively in skills provision. We sit alongside key education partners and employers on CBI NI’s skills and employment committee.
We are corporate members of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NI Chamber). It is a well-known network for business with a membership of 1,200 businesses representing over 100,000 employees.
It includes corporates, SMEs and micro businesses with membership from all sectors of business from manufacturing to agri-foods, services to high-tech and the professions.
The NI Chamber is vital to allowus to network with businesses across Northern Ireland and to support them in their role as advocates for the skills development needs of their member organisations.
