Description

This project developed a set of reusable learning objects (RLOs), on the topic of children's play, for speech and language therapy trainees and early years students. This project was used as a vehicle to develop a template for more generic use, to guide content developers of RLOs using video-based learning. A novel element was the employment of a qualitative research to observe group process during the development meetings and to produce a narrative account, highlighting aspects that facilitated productive progress.
The exemplar materials were developed using the fOCUS III software shell and are available under license for higher education institutions. The project is continuing and the team has agreed to stay in existence to develop additional RLOs to complete a comprehensive teaching/learning package on children's play, which has become a core element in modern early years practice and in speech and language therapy with young children.
If you would like to find out more about this PBPL funded project please see the "Reusable Learning Objects: A multi-media professional development package" project webpage.
