Description

Book of abstracts and posters presented at The Open CETL Conference on the 15-16 October 2007 which was held at The Open University, Milton Keynes, UK.

The Open CETL is a collaboration of the four OU led Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, established in 2005. Over the past two years the Open CETL has been addressing such broad issues as:

  • Subject communities and identities and their role in student support
  • Assessment for learning
  • Communicating with students in an online environment
  • E Resources for teaching and learning
  • Employer engagement
  • Practice-based professional learning.

Under these broad themes the CETLs have sponsored innovative practitioner projects that have allowed scope for blue skies thinking, exploration and innovation.

Sharing good teaching and learning practice

The 2nd Open CETL Conference, “Pushing the Boundaries”, provides an opportunity for dissemination of the learning from these activities by staff working with the CETLs; and, like the first Open CETL Conference in June 2006, it will encourage active participation, reflection, debate and discussion from attendees. This will be achieved through a programme including poster presentations, demonstrations, paper presentations and workshops. The focus will be on dialogue, with teaching and learning practitioners having ample opportunity to talk and share practice.
