Description

The 3rd Open CETL Conference, "Building Bridges", builds on two previous successful conferences attended by 280 colleagues from across the University. The focus for this year’s conference is practitioner engagement.

Keynote presentation by Geetha Narayanan "Looking Back to Look Ahead - Learning Through and From the Human Spirit"

The universal challenge of our contemporary times is to move education and learning from structures that are conventional and similar to ones have a living spirit within them, a sense of joy and a feeling of being "just right". Influenced deeply by values and ideas embedded in biology, ecology, music and craft Geetha developed her pedagogical blend of slowness and wholeness.

Her presentation is in three parts-a retrospective of the contexts and thinking that influenced her work between 2002-2004; a case study reflecting ideas as action between 2006-2008 and finally a look at the future- the new ideas for designing learning that will be part of her research between 2009-2010.
