Acceptable qualifications for entry to B121 Managing in the workplace


The qualifications listed below are acceptable for entry to B121 Managing in the workplace as from February 2009.

Please note that other qualifications may be acceptable. If your qualification does not appear on this list please contact our Student Registration & Enquiry Service.

A copy of your entry qualification must be submitted with your TMA, not with your registration.

  • A Level or Leaving Certificate (Ireland) in Business Studies + at least 12 months work experience

  • Advanced Diploma in Transport - Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport

  • AMSPAR Diploma in Primary Care management*

  • AVCE Business Studies + at least 12 months work experience

  • B120 Introduction to business studies (Open University course)

  • BTEC National Diploma in Business and Finance + work experience

  • BTEC in Business Studies plus work experience*

  • BTEC National Diploma in Computer Studies plus work experience*

  • BTEC National Diploma in IT System Support plus work experience*

  • BU130 Working and Learning (Open University Course)*

  • Certificate in Business Studies (course B120 plus 30 points from an approved list of other courses - Open University)*

  • Certificate in Managing Care (K303 - Open University course)

  • City and Guilds Level 4 Training and Development (Further and Adult Education teachers)

  • City and Guilds GNVQ Business Advanced Level with merit + work experience

  • City and Guilds NVQ level 3 in Early Years Care and Education

  • City and Guilds- level 3 - Certificate in Teaching Adult Learners plus work experience*

  • E100 The early years: developing practice (Open University course)

  • E115 Personal professional development: early years settings (Open University course)

  • Edexcel - Assessor’s Qualifications - (Assess candidate performance and assess candidate using differing sources of evidence - must have been an assessor in a relevant subject and/or have experience of working in the organisation for whom they were an assessor)

  • Edexcel - NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Welfare from Anchor Trust

  • FETAC (Ireland) Level 2 = NVQ3

  • French Professional Baccalaureate in Accounting and Administration + at least 12 months work experience

  • Higher Education Diploma - Critical Care Nursing- plus experience*

  • Higher Diploma Administrative & Secretarial Procedures

  • HNC Business and Finance*
