Programmes of Study

Business Studies

Our business studies programme is about how organisations work, their management and the changing external environment in which they operate.

We aim to help you develop a range of specific business concepts, theories and practical skills; as well as improved self-awareness and personal development appropriate for careers in business. You'll also gain valuable lifelong learning skills, study skills, personal development, and the enhancement of a range of general transferable intellectual skills. Read our information booklet for more details about our programme.

We've recently introduced several major and exciting changes to our business studies programme in order to make our qualifications more accessible and relevant in the workplace. In 2006 we launched two new foundation degrees, a major new
Certificate in Business Studies and several new courses for our well-known and respected BA (Hons) Business Studies degrees.  In 2007 we launched two new courses, Winning Resources and Support and Investigating Entrepreneurial Opportunities. You can take these courses on their own or as part of your Business Studies Degree.

Where should you start?

Level 1 courses are often an ideal place to begin an Open University Business School qualification in business studies and for the first time we now offer a suite of new Level 1 courses in business studies to suit every requirement, whether your primary need is for:

Qualifications range from the introductory Certificate in Business Studies ideal if you've never studied before, or feel a bit rusty to a suite of degrees combining the study of business with specialist subject areas.
