Certificate in Business Studies

If you want a qualification in business studies, but you're not sure about going for a degree, this new Certificate is an astute choice. It's a gentle introduction to studying business at undergraduate level, with a wide range of optional courses to suit your particular needs and interests – including law, numeracy, ICT and employment law. The Certificate will be particularly useful if you've gained some experience of the workplace and want to enhance your skills and career potential.

The Certificate is a valuable qualification in its own right and will quickly give you a formal university qualification. If you then decide to carry on with your studies, it's also a stepping stone to other OU Business School qualifications like a foundation degree or the BA (Hons) Business Studies degrees.

How The Programme Works

To achieve the Certificate in Business Studies you need to complete the 30-point Level 1 course An Introduction to Business Studies, plus 30 points of Level 1 study made up from between one and three courses that you choose from a wide choice of options. Click on Courses link below for a full list of courses and qualification description which can count towards the Certificate in Business Studies.
