OU Belly Dance Club events:
BELLY DANCE TRIBAL WORKSHOPWe have a Tribal Workshop planned for Saturday 24th March 2012 between 2.00 - 4.00 p.m. in the Hub Theatre at Walton Hall. Tickets cost £5 for our Club members and £8 for others. The workshop will be run by Darkstar:- Check out www.darkstardance.co.uk for details All are welcome, bring along friends and family for a fun packed afternoon learning a new dance style with Darkstar and to a social get-together afterwards!!! Express yourself with hip-hop, goth and flamenco styles whilst still maintaining the beauty of traditional Arabic and Egyptian movements. Darkstar will introduce core tribal fusions, isolations and short choreography (time permitting). Please bring along some nibbles and drink to share afterwards and we will hold a small 'afters get-together'! We also hope to hold a raffle with some typical blingy Belly Dance prizes. We look forward to seeing you there!
CHILDREN IN NEED PERFORMANCE - TUESDAY 15th NOVEMBER 2011Club members and Tutors again performed (alongside the Zumba group) at 2011's Children In Need event. The webcast is available here and you can also donate via the 2011 Justgiving website.
Please click here to view the flyer for the 2nd April 2011 workshop at the OU with guest dancer Razia. Razia (USA) is an award-winning belly dancer with over a decade of professional experience. Her style is uniquely charming and she is renowned for her captivating stage presence, precise technique and exquisite musicality. Razia has been a featured instructor at events such as the International Bellydance Congress, Jewel of Yorkshire and Raqs Britannia, as well as being the co-creator of RAKS, a yearly "Belly dance boot camp'' in Belgium. Students love her for warm and enthusiastic approach to teaching. Now based in London, Razia offers weekly classes, private coaching and workshops both locally and internationally. The workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended and the Committee are looking forward to arranging something similar in future.
