Please contact Joy to express an interest. Improver's classesWednesday, 12:00-13:00 in the Church with Mary. This class is by invitation only, to ensure that students are of a similar standard. If you would like to be considered for this class please contact Mary. A note on class levels / abilitiesWe use the terms "beginners" and "improvers" to draw a distinction between different levels of experience and ability of the students. "Improvers" refers to students that have been learning bellydance for quite a while. The classes focus more on how to use the moves in a dance, rather than teaching the basic moves themselves. Of course, there are more technically advanced moves that will also be taught in the improvers class, and basic moves will be reviewed occasionally. For this reason, the classes are only suitable for people who already comfortable with most of the basic moves. "Beginners" refers to everyone up to the Improvers level. You may have been studying bellydance for a year, but still be attending a "Beginners" class. We use the term "Beginners" because if someone completely new to bellydancing were to attend one of these classes they would (hopefully) be able to follow the class and keep up, even though the class as a whole is progressing and improving. It can take a long time to perfect the basic bellydance moves, and repetition is a big part of the learning process. Because of this, someone who is getting quite good at bellydancing may still benefit from the "Beginners" classes as it offers an opportunity to review and perfect the basic moves. So please don't be confused by our class terms. If you are currently attending a "Beginners" class and are wondering what to do next, you should continue with that class as it will build on what you have already been learning. MembershipThe club charges and an annual fee of £5 for Open University staff / postgraduate students which is due in October each year. This goes towards any activities that the group organises outside of weekly classes. Please download the membership form and send it to us with your payment (requires Adobe Reader).
