One of the best things about OU students is how unique you are, coming from every walk of life, bringing different experiences to your studies – with a magazine, radio show and podcast there’s lots of ways for you to express yourself, whilst gaining professional experience in writing, interviewing, presenting and technical skills!
Published four times a year and sent to all 200,000+ members of the Students Association (students like yourself), the magazine is a perfect way for budding writers to share their story.
The copy deadlines for 2016/17 are:
Winter edition - 11 November
Spring edition - 13 February
Summer edition - 15 May
We ask that submissions are in someway related to being an OU student and are between 300-700 words. If you have a hi-res photo that fits with your story, and the rights to republish it, please include it!
Want to submit an article, have a great idea for the mag, or just want to get in touch with the Editorial team? Send us an email at email@example.com!
Launched nearly two years ago, OU Students Radio is a special live event that currently happens four times a year. An internet radio event, you can listen wherever you are in the world via computer, tablet or smart phone. A presenter team of four OU students broadcast live from our studio at the OU campus in Milton Keynes, sharing stories, study tips and advice, whilst chatting to guests that range from Tutors to the OU’s Vice Chancellor! Listeners can get involved at home by taking part in the fast-paced chat on both YouTube chat and social media (using #OUstudentsRADIO !).
The show couldn’t exist without its volunteers and you could be involved! Email firstname.lastname@example.org or find us on Facebook and Twitter to find out a bit more. If you’re a novice presenter, or experienced reporter, just interested and want to try something new, then the radio is the event for you!
Our podcast series is full of stories from students that are a bit too long for the radio, but still need to be told. From Mark's journey to finding confidence, a group of OU students' first trip to campus, and an exploration of all the ways we can support isolated OU students, there's sure to be an episode to pique your interest. We also upload special highlights versions of the radio show!
You can find all of our podcast episodes so far here, or in the iTunes podcast catalogue by searching 'OU Students Association'.
If you're an OU student with a passion for podcasting, want to find out more about making a podcast, or want to share your story, then get in touch with us at email@example.com.
