Email involves sending an electronic message from your private mailbox to one or more named individuals. You can do this from any computer, whether at home or elsewhere.
As an OU student you are automatically provided with an email account. Your email address will end in @my.open.ac.uk or @student open.ac.uk.
While it is quick and easy to send an email, don't expect an immediate reply. Although some people have constant access to their email, many others log in occasionally.
Most OU tutors work for the OU part time and, although they will log in regularly, it will not be daily. However, email is often a convenient way to contact your tutor, so add their address to your electronic address book!
E-mail is so quick and easy. I can keep in touch with a student in Shetland, and it costs no more than sending a message to a neighbour up the road
