You will receive full instructions on how to install any software we send you, and information on how it fits within your course.

Some courses have a website where you can find out about your course, or link to web resources and other relevant documents. Some courses are run online and all the core course materials are on the website. You can reach your course website through your StudentHome website - there's a link at the top of this page. The course website is often open a month or so before the course starts.

The OU has plenty of information and resources available, which will see you through from the beginning of your first course through to achieving a qualification. The online OU library allows you to access resources from your own PC, even when you have no local access to a large library.

It is important to be aware of how the computer is used within your course and how essential or optional it is, as this affects the amount of access you will need. You'll find this information in the course description in Courses and Qualifications, where there is also advice and information about how to choose a course.

If you do not have a PC you may be able to use one at your local library, as long as you do not need to install any software: find out more about using public access computers.
