Professional biography

My current role in the Faculty of Wellbeing Education and Language Studies encompasses:

  • coordination and oversight of course production activity

  • development of Faculty approach to operational delivery issues

  • support, guidance and training for online teaching and learning.

Between 1994 and 2003, I was producer of bespoke education and training materials at the independent company Learning Materials Design. Projects on which I was an author, learning designer or project manager included the National Training Programme for New School Governors, the National Training Programme for Gifted and Talented Coordinators, and the Marie Curie Cancer Care BSc in Palliative Care / Cancer Care. Following this, I conducted doctoral research at on learners’ experience of self-direction in online learning at the Institute of Educational Technology.

Between 1984 and 1993, I was an academic at the Cambridge University Department of History and Philosophy of Science, where I taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and published on the history of science, history of medicine, and women’s history.
